The criteria of the cheap Bluetooth mouse test

While the first mice controlled the cursor with a built-in ball, optical light-emitting diodes or laser diodes are the common design today. Both are based on the reflection of the light source, whereupon a microprocessor uses images to transmit the speed and direction to the PC. The laser mouse is the optimized version, since there is less speckle effect.

The speckle effect describes the reflection of light on a surface. If this is uneven or coated with certain materials, the reflected light rays are deflected or superimposed, which reduces accuracy. The laser diode ensures better contrast and is therefore also suitable for smoother surfaces.

Since all mice are now equipped with diode technology, this will not be the main focus. That's why we focus on the properties of workmanship, ergonomics, connection speed (á la Plug & Play), buttons and their pressure point, DPI (dots per inch) and finally possible software settings. In computer mice, DPI refers to the resolution of the light sensor. The higher the DPI number, the more accurately it can detect movements. Accordingly, with a high number of DPI, the mouse only needs to be moved slightly to cover a comparatively long distance on the desktop. CPI is also often used (characters per inch), but for the sake of simplicity we stick with DPI throughout.
I put rechargeable mice (i.e. battery-powered ones) in the battery-powered review. In my opinion, it is less effort to use the wireless mouse from time to time with a cable than having to find one or even two batteries every six months to a whole year. In addition, it is more environmentally friendly.

Another test point on the subject of "wireless mouse" is its latency. Latency describes the delay that inevitably occurs in a wireless connection between two devices. Of course, this is not noticeable during normal use of the mice, but it can happen that certain mice need a certain amount of time to react after connecting or going into sleep mode. If this is the case to a greater extent with certain mice, we will of course let you know. However, it can only be seen as a real criterion to a limited extent, because thank God it is not really noticeable with any Bluetooth mouse.

Left-handers can look out for symmetrically built mice in our test. In general, the ergonomic shape of a mouse suffers from a symmetrical design, but this is an advantage for left-handers. There are only a few special mice for left-handers.

As in our first series of tests "10 under X" on gaming keyboards, we decided on a Bluetooth mouse as the reference model, which passes all these criteria with flying colors and is therefore one of the best all-round mice on the market: the logitech MX Master 2S. Of course there are also models from Rapoo or Roccat, but the MX Master 2S is a real stunner!

The control mouse logitech MX Master 2S

The quality of the MX Master 2S begins with the packaging. In contrast to the other wireless mice, the box is elegantly designed and the magnetic closure can be easily opened to get a first look at the MX Master 2S.

When unpacked, the scope of delivery includes the Bluetooth mouse itself, a micro USB cable and a Bluetooth stick if the device does not have an integrated Bluetooth connection. The mice were tested on a MacBook Pro 2013. The 2S was connected within a few seconds. The on/off switch and the so-called easy switch are located on the bottom. Three Bluetooth devices can be connected to the wireless mouse and a click determines which one the mouse should connect to - unique among our test mice. The logitech Flow technology allows even professionals to easily work with one mouse across multiple PCs. But that's not the only reason why the MX Master 2S is our prime example.

At first glance, logitech's flagship appears a bit large, but as soon as you put your hand on it for the first time, you notice the ingenious workmanship of the heavy plastic and the perfect ergonomics for large and small hands. The thumb rest and the slightly tilted top is optimal for the hand and you can work with it for many hours without any problems. If you wanted to whine at a very high level, you could complain that the little finger is not supported enough. But as I said, that's not really worth mentioning.
The great feeling continues with the scroll wheel. The slightly roughened surface and the turning itself ensure absolute control over the scrolling. At the push of a button above the scroll wheel, you can decide whether it should be able to be rotated with “intermediate clicks” or without, i.e. freely rotating. If you scroll down quickly, the wheel automatically switches to free-spinning mode. But that's not all. There is also a small wheel above the thumb, which can be turned without clicking and which can be used to adjust the volume or the like very easily.

The pressure points of the six mouse buttons are optimally controlled. The button, which consists of the thumb rest, is not pressed accidentally because a little more pressure is needed to activate it.

However, if you expect a completely new feeling of pressure for the high price, you will be "disappointed". Logitech can't reinvent the wheel either, so it's neither too much resistance nor too little.

Compared to its predecessor, the new sensor now achieves a whopping 1600 DPI instead of 4000 DPI, which means that it can also serve any high-resolution screen perfectly. In my opinion, more is not necessary. Of course, the Master S2 works with high-precision darkfield technology. No surface poses a challenge for the Bluetooth mouse. The battery life is incredibly long (logitech speaks of 70 days) and even if it should be empty, it can be charged via USB cable while in use.

But after all these positive aspects, the best comes last: the software! Everything, really everything, can be adjusted via the software. Each key can be assigned with commands like "press CMD + C", but also with running programs. Intuitive gesture control is also possible, as well as setting the pointer and scrolling speed. The three possible devices can be coupled via the logitech flow, so that you can then switch between them at the push of a button.

Overall, the logitech MX Master S2 is easily the best all-round mouse on the market. As a control mouse, she showed us all the possibilities that turn what is actually a simple computer mouse into a high-end device!

#10 CSL Bluetooth mouse

Compared to the TeckNet Alpha, the laser mouse from CSL already reveals the first quality defects after unpacking. On the one hand, it is relatively light, almost too light. And on the other hand, the CSL mouse has no more buttons than it needs to have. So it has the right and left mouse button (sure...), the scroll wheel and a button above it to set the DPI. The shape includes a small but adequate thumb rest, but it's relatively straight at the top and not ergonomically tilted to the right. Of course that's a matter of taste, I'm more of a fan of the slanted shape. With this Bluetooth mouse, there is no place for my ring finger and little finger to rest.

No products found.

The first impression was confirmed by the fact that connecting to the PC took quite a long time and I had to press the pairing button on the bottom several times until it worked. If the Bluetooth mouse is left unused for a few seconds, you will notice a short jerking with the first movement until it has caught itself again. This is the result of the Advanced Power Management System, which is designed to extend battery life. The CSL uses one AA battery, but cannot report low power. I guess you can tell by a jerky execution.

The maximum DPI number of 1600 is also not close to the top values of other mice, but they are still completely sufficient and can be downgraded to 1200 or 800 if necessary.

The scroll wheel doesn't have enough resistance for me, but that's also a matter of taste. When you press the button, you can easily tell that the workmanship is rather cheap due to the lack of a clear clicking noise, but the resonance is okay. All in all, the CSL Bluetooth mouse is okay for the price, but it only offers what it has to and lets the price be felt in the workmanship. Nothing can be said about the battery life, but in our test the Bluetooth mouse lasted more than two weeks with one battery.

#9 Microsoft Designer Mouse

The stylish Bluetooth mouse from Microsoft similar in structure to the Fenifox. A very flat design and the matte black actually allow the mouse to pass as a designer piece. The workmanship is, of course, very good for Microsoft and the mouse definitely looks good.

Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse (mouse, black, wireless, suitable for right and left-handers)
  • BlueTrack Technology for precise work on almost all...
  • ultra flat Housing with low weight for maximum mobility
  • Wireless ease of use with Bluetooth Smart - Interference-free and...

Due to the shape, however, it is not possible to place the palm of your hand on it. Thus, the wrist rests on the mouse pad and only the fingers move the mouse. Ergonomically, there is little to be gained from the Microsoft mouse.

The quick start-up was pleasantly noticed. Two AAA batteries are included in the package and the closure on the bottom works easily with a magnet. Inserted, connected and ready to go. Otherwise it's spartan - right mouse button, left mouse button and scroll wheel. The click feeling is different from the other models. A rather dull, relatively soft click can be felt. The scroll wheel is very pleasantly controlled and lets you surf the Internet well. The DPI is not changeable and designed at 1000 for general use.

Like the Fenifox, the Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse is also intended for the businessman or career woman who travels a lot. Of course, its practical size leaves nothing to be desired in terms of functionality. It's a pity that no DPI can be set and that only the three buttons can be operated. In addition, it has to be operated with batteries (running time 6 months) and is slightly more expensive than the Fenifox.

#8 Fenifox MX106

OK. The Fenifox MX106 is something completely different. Ergonomics or a comparable form cannot yet be spoken of. Because the mouse is only 1,1 cm high, so very very flat. The workmanship is visibly of low quality, at least on the back. There is a contact surface for the hand, but I have a completely different handling with it. I have my wrist on the mouse pad and move the mouse mostly with my fingers. Still, the design is interesting and might be a good alternative for frequent travelers. Precise work is rather difficult.

Fenifox Bluetooth mouse, wireless mouse Bluetooth small flat super thin mini portable for laptop, Android tablet, PC, notebook (silver silver/white)
  • Connection: Uses an improved Bluetooth 3.0 version,...
  • --You'll never have to buy batteries for your mouse again. The mouse...
  • Design: Thanks to the light, slim design, the mouse is ideal for...

After all, the MX106 comes with a 3,3 volt battery that can be charged using the supplied micro USB cable. A small red warning light above the scroll wheel indicates when charging is required. The scroll wheel itself is very small, making it almost useless. It takes forever to scroll up a page.

In our two weeks of use, the mouse needed the cable once, I think that's okay. After the Bluetooth mouse has gone into sleep mode, it reacts quickly and connects directly to the PC.
The pressure points are rather heavy, but this is hardly noticeable due to the hand position. Due to its design, the Fenifox only has the two standard mouse buttons, and the wheel cannot be pressed either.

Thus, the mouse is only suitable for certain jobs. However, those who are attracted by the design can count on a functional mouse that does not need batteries and reacts well. The DPI can be adjusted between 800, 1200 and 1600 on the back.

#7 VicTsing 2,4G Mini Mouse

As the name suggests, the VicTsing wireless mouse cannot be controlled via Bluetooth. A small USB transmitter in the bottom of the mouse can be pulled out and needs to be plugged into the laptop. There we have the biggest disadvantage right from the start: the mouse occupies a USB port. Nevertheless, we did not exclude such mice in our test, the connection is only part of the evaluation and can also be necessary for certain devices in this form.

No products found.

In terms of shape and finish, however, the VicTsing 2,4G is better than the CSL. The plastic looks well made and small indentations on the right side serve as support for the ring and pinky fingers. A tiny thumb rest only slightly holds the thumb. I have to say I like the shape despite the lack of a tilt to the right. However, the Bluetooth mouse is too small for my hand (hence the name “mini”, of course). If it were a bit bigger, I wouldn't complain about it, my fingers protrude a little over the mouse everywhere (I have glove size 8, so a hand circumference of about 22 cm).

The connection via the small pairing stick is completed directly and the mouse is ready for use. If you don't use it for eight minutes, it goes into energy-saving mode. It's a pity that the time can't be set smaller, since eight minutes is a long time. However, this reduces jerky effects as with the CSL.

With an AA battery, the mouse should still last a long time (VicTsing states 15 months). In our test, this is always a maximum of two weeks, but also with constant use on working days. The VicTsing has an advantage over other mice in this test thanks to the illuminated DPI button above the scroll wheel, which indicates the DPI by flashing one to five times. You can vary between 800, 1200, 1600, 2000 and 2400 DPI.
The pressure points of the mouse buttons and the "Forward" and "Back" buttons above the thumb are well controlled and the mouse wheel is also easy to use.

Considering the small size of the mouse, the VicTsing is an absolutely sufficient Bluetooth mouse with all the necessary basics. The fact that it uses up a USB slot is very annoying, but it still works well.

#6 Emarth EM-510AG

Emarth's mouse has the same disadvantage as the VicTsing. Because a connection can only be established via the associated nano transmitter, a USB slot is therefore required.

Emarth 2.4G Wireless Optical Mice with Double Scroll Wheel, USB Nano Receiver, 5 Buttons 1600 DPI Ergonomic Design for PC/Computer/Laptop, Red
  • [Plug and play]: Simply connect the nano receiver, no...
  • [Double scroll wheel]: Side scroll wheel designed for faster ...
  • [2.4G WIRELESS TRANSMISSION]: Safe distance up to 10 meters accurate ...

But the shape of the Emarth is very different. An ergonomic shape was used here, with wide wings protruding on both the right and left to support the thumb, ring and little finger. The first laying on of the hand is a bit strange, but once you get used to it, it feels quite good. The processing looks clean and the Bluetooth mouse is relatively heavy, which can also be due to the two AA batteries for use. These are included in the scope of delivery.

After plugging in the transmitter, the mouse is immediately functional and starts with 1200 DPI as standard. However, it can also be set to 1000 or 1600 DPI. There is no information about which DPI setting is currently being used, but with three it is not really necessary.

The EM-510AG goes into sleep mode after eight minutes and into power saving mode after 30 minutes. However, I couldn't find out the exact difference. Again, the mouse lasted two weeks with steady use.

The key distribution is a bit unfortunate. The EM-510AG has a scroll wheel between the right and left mouse button and a scroll wheel over the thumb. However, since there is no software for the mouse, I can't find out what the second wheel is supposed to be good for. When pressed, I get into the fast scroll mode of my laptop, so I can move the Bluetooth mouse up and down on the page. I would have preferred the forward and back buttons. The pressure feeling is okay and the click sounds good.

For this low price, I'm really surprised by the Emarth EM-510AG. Both the processing and the shape do not suggest cheap production. Only the scroll wheel over the thumb is unnecessary and the nano transmitter is a shame. As the cheapest model with this processing, it gets one percentage point more than the VicTsing.

#5 Amarey E08

The Amarey E08 is made of light plastic, but handling does not suffer as a result. It is built symmetrically, which means the indentation for the finger on the right side is the same as on the left side (left-handed people can become sensitive here). In my opinion, this is not ergonomic, so you have to put two fingers on the right and only one on the left.

amarey E08 Bluetooth 3.0 Mouse Rechargeable Wireless Ergonomic Mouse, Optical Wireless Mouse, Cordless Mice with 6 Buttons, 800/1200/1600 DPI, 600mAh Lithium Battery 2.4GHz 10m Range for PC Mac Tablet Laptop, Black
  • Bluetooth connection method: 1. Turn the mouse switch to...
  • It can connect to any Bluetooth compatible PC, laptop or...
  • It's a Bluetooth mouse, you don't need batteries for your...

Accordingly, I don't find the feeling for the hand really pleasant. Of course you can still operate the PC with it, it's not like that.
The connection via Bluetooth went within seconds and the consistency is definitely always there.

The keystroke is extremely soft, a real click can only be heard faintly. But that's a matter of taste whether you like it or not. It's not critical for precision. The forward and back buttons above the thumb are positive. In my opinion, the scroll wheel is set a little too softly, in order to really be able to scroll, you have to turn it a lot.

The DPI number can be set between 800, 1200 and 1600. For the price, however, it must also be said that the amarey convinces with a rechargeable battery, i.e. it does not need batteries and can be charged via a micro USB cable. If the battery is low, a red LED light under the scroll wheel will flash. In addition, no annoying plugging in a nano-transmitter is necessary.
The amarey E08 goes into sleep mode after five minutes. It takes some getting used to that this can only be canceled by double-clicking the left mouse button.

Otherwise, the Bluetooth mouse is acceptable for this price. Only the symmetrical design is a bit annoying. However, the battery is a plus point in this price segment.

#4 CSL Vertical Mouse

The Vertical Mouse from CSL is something completely different. And I'm not just talking about the design, I'm talking about everything. As the name suggests, the Vertical Mouse is built on edge, so to speak. With this, CSL promises the highest possible ergonomic shape, because the wrist does not have to be turned like with any other mouse. However, it is of course very unusual at first. The quality is good and the Bluetooth mouse is easy to move.

However, it has to be said that this Bluetooth mouse is definitely a type thing. Many will not even think about ordering such an unusual looking Bluetooth mouse. I personally don't want to support this impression, but I find that precise work with this mouse is difficult. Others may pick up the CSL and say, "Wow, that's just right," but that didn't happen to me even after the test days. From a functional point of view, however, it must be said that the Vertical Mouse is sufficiently equipped with the normal mouse buttons, scroll wheel, DPI button and "Forward" and "Back". You can choose between 1000 and 1600 DPI. However, since you move the mouse differently, 1000 DPI is definitely too slow. An even higher number would have been nice.

CSL - optical wireless wireless mouse - vertical design - ergonomic design - prevention of mouse arm tennis elbow - particularly arm-friendly - 5 buttons
  • CSL USB optical mouse | vertical version | especially arm-friendly
  • USB 2.0 | optical sensor | high sensitivity compared to ...
  • 5 buttons & scroll wheel | left & right mouse button | Forward & Back button...

But even so, after a while, you can work well. Unfortunately, I cannot confirm the prevention of tennis elbow (RSI syndrome) because this has never happened to me with a “normal” mouse either. However, if pain is felt in the arm due to long work on the PC, the Bluetooth mouse could really help. Powered by two AAA batteries, it should last for a year. However, a USB slot is also required here.

The CSL Vertical Mouse has a special position in our test. People with RSI syndrome certainly see this mouse as a blessing, but precise work (eg marking) is relatively difficult with it. However, since the ergonomic design and workmanship is very good, the mouse is rated 80%.

ADDENDUM: After testing the Vertical Mouse, I had slight forearm pain after 2-3 days with my actual mouse. This supports the idea of ergonomics and I can recommend this mouse to people with pain in the mouse arm.

#3 Logitech M235

The logitech M235 convinces directly with excellent quality. The shape is symmetrical - also suitable for left-handers - and overall relatively small in the mouse. Even though I used to complain about symmetrical, small mice, the M235 feels quite comfortable in the hand. Similar to the Fenifox, due to the size, I only move my fingers to move the cursor. The symmetrical design requires the ring finger and little finger to be pressed tightly against the mouse, but in this case that's not really a problem.

With the logitech Unifying Stick, the Bluetooth mouse is connected directly to the PC. The disadvantage here is that the mouse needs a USB slot. However, six other logitech devices can be connected via the stick, which gives fans of the brand an advantage.
I would say the mouse is for the pragmatic businessman or the smart business woman. Because it only has the right and left mouse button, a smooth-running scroll wheel and that's about it. The DPI number cannot be adjusted either. This is constant at 1000. Of course I have to criticize that in our test series, even if I find that the Bluetooth mouse can still be used directly, intuitively and very well controlled.

Cyber Monday

  • Easy navigation and control: The wireless Logitech M235 mouse...
  • Long battery life: The wireless computer mouse can last a whole...

The AA battery (included) is designed to last a year and a small LED light above the scroll wheel lets you know when it's low. If you let the mouse stand for a few minutes, it goes into energy-saving mode. It takes some getting used to the fact that she only wakes up again by clicking one of the two mouse buttons. As with all nano transmitter mice presented here, this can be "tucked away" in the underside of the mouse.
The pressure points of both buttons are very pleasant and produce a clear click.

All in all, the logitech M235 is a successful Bluetooth mouse that has really been reduced to the essentials. You can work with it, but if you want more buttons or settings, this is not the case.

#2 TeckNet Alpha Bluetooth mouse

At first glance, the TeckNet Alpha looks well made and is easy to hold. The size is comfortable and the ergonomic shape gives a good feeling for the hand. Although there is not such a large thumb rest as with the Master S2, the hand can be laid very relaxed on it and this Bluetooth mouse can be used for long periods of time. The TeckNet Alpha can be switched on on the underside and the laptop has found it after a few seconds. So it is ready for immediate use.

  • 🟢【24 months battery life】 With low-power chips and smart ...

The connection is constant and by pressing a button above the scroll wheel, the DPI number can be set between 3000 (maximum value of the entire test series), 2600, 2000, 1600, 1200 and 800. It's a pity that you can't see which setting you're currently using, which means it has to be controlled purely by feeling. The scroll wheel is easy to use and the speed cannot be adjusted, but it is well controlled. The pressure points of the buttons are just right and the other two buttons, "Forward" and "Back", above the thumb are also easily accessible. If an end device does not have Bluetooth (I know, that is very rare), no additional Bluetooth stick is included in the scope of delivery.

The TeckNet Alpha features "Intelligent Power Saving". When the computer is closed, the wireless mouse turns off automatically. This is important for battery life. With two AA batteries it should last about 2 years. If it runs out of juice, a small red light in the middle of the Alpha lights up.

Overall, the TeckNet Alpha is a stable all-round mouse. Only equipped with the basics, it gives the user a very good feeling for this price and is therefore recommended.

#1 JETech M0884

As soon as I unpacked the JETech M0884, I saw that I liked this Bluetooth mouse. Although it is a bit small, it has an ergonomic shape due to a slightly sloping design, which is very comfortable for the wrist position. The thumb rest and the ring and pinky rest aren't big, but they're enough for even my rather large hands. If you want to criticize something in the form, it could perhaps be a little bit bigger. The quality looks good even if the plastic makes the mouse very light. The connection went smoothly and quickly, at first it was a bit jerky, but after about 20 seconds everything went smoothly.

JETech 2.4Ghz Souris Sans fil Mobile Optique Avec durée de Vie de 12 Mois
  • Compatible with Windows 98/2000/NT/ME/XP/Win7/Win8/Win10;...
  • The battery life is 12 months on 1 AA battery (not included).
  • Note: The USB receiver plugs into the back of the mouse...

The JETech 0884 lets you choose between 800, 1200, 1600, 2000 and 2400 DPI, which is a generous range for the price. The current setting is indicated by a brief flashing of the DPI button located above the scroll wheel. The mouse buttons are pleasant to click and the forward and back buttons are also placed optimally over the thumb. The scroll wheel is well adjusted and you can scroll through a page at a pleasant speed.
The JETech M0884 is operated with an AA battery, which the manufacturer promises a runtime of half a year.

All in all, one has to say that JETech does really well. Compared to the Bluetooth mouse from TeckNet, which also performs well, the M0884 has the advantage of displaying the DPI settings.

Now that you've saved a lot of money on the Bluetooth mouse, you should take a look at our gaming headset test series. You can save a lot of money there too.
