ECOVACS Robotics Deebot M82

The Deebot M82 from ECOVACS Robotics convinces above all with a very smart system during execution. This system saved him from last place considering he the worst suction power in our Vacuum robot test pointed out. However, since he recognizes obstacles very well, turns around and cleans the surface very thoroughly, he has won important points in the fight for the wooden medal. Like the iLife v5s Pro, the M82 relies on one long suction time with a weak motor. This is not always effective, but of course the Deebot M82 is not an unusable vacuum cleaner robot either. Super system, great optics. However, the suction power is not always sufficient due to the eco mode, which can be optimized using the MAX mode.

Great system, little power

The system in which the Deebot M82 crosses the room is one of the best in our test. It cleans all edges very reliably thanks to the side brushes and intelligently navigates around obstacles such as flower pots, chairs or cupboards. Looking at the cleaned surface, it doesn't leave a dirty spot. Four cleaning modes flash the intelligent software in each of the modes.

The weak suction power of the Deebot is all the more regrettable. Here, in our opinion, the priority was given to the wrong criterion. Although the Deebot manages two hours of cleaning per cycle, it is no wonder with an 11 watt motor. It is also no wonder that these 11 watts do not clean as thoroughly as, for example, the 41 watt motor of the Neato Botvac D85. It should be emphasized again that the M82 also leaves a clean track. Since we tested in a laboratory scenario, the drastic distinction in language is sometimes necessary to point out the subtle differences between vacuum cleaners. The Deebot M82 also vacuums reliably!

Equipped with a 2500 mAh lithium-ion battery, the M82 is blessed with sufficient power, at least in terms of battery.

Only 72,9 grams

Of course, we are not talking about the product weight here, but about our proven dust test. Within eight minutes, the ECOVACS Deebot M82 picked up only 72,9 grams. With that he holds the red lantern. Just 50 percent isn't enough either. It's a shame that the intelligently programmed system loses its shine as a result. However, it must also be mentioned that ECOVACS placed great value on environmental friendliness, which unfortunately cannot be taken into account in our test. After all, we judge the hard facts, not the goals beyond. The 11 watt motor is very environmentally friendly and at the same time extremely energy-saving. As a result, less electricity is consumed, which is good for the environment and, by the way, also for your wallet.

The volume is within the limits as usual. So there are 63,8 deciBels even in the upper half of the models. So it depends on the valuation that is set as a potential buyer. The Deebot cleans large areas very thoroughly due to its long battery life and the modes are also chosen sensibly.

4 cleaning modes and remote control

When it comes to operation, the Deebot M82 can't be fooled. Not only does it come with a clear and well-functioning remote control, but you can also choose between four useful cleaning modes. These include the auto mode, which vacuums the entire room with a targeted system and in eco mode. The edge mode, which only guides the Deebot along the edges, ignoring the free space. Spot mode, which lets Deebot thoroughly clean a certain area while ignoring the rest of the room. And last but not least, the MAX mode, which is a kind of intensive program. This gives the motor more energy and the suction power is increased (of course depending on the size of the area in terms of battery life). The latter is a good mode for the living room or kitchen, where there are a lot of crumbs, food leftovers and dirt from shoes.

In addition, a timer can be installed, which means that the Deebot cleans automatically every day without being asked. The dust container holds 0,45 liters. That's not the world, but enough so that you don't have to constantly empty the container. The Deebot M82 is installed directly after connecting the charging station. It can then be started directly via the buttons on the surface, but the setting via the remote control is also well designed.

Only the suction power is missing

So you have to say that "only" the suction power leaves something to be desired. Both the software and the installation and cleaning of the device are very successful. A remote control is also included in the scope of delivery, which can be used to lock all settings. In addition, it must be mentioned that the processing and the design of the intelligent software are adapted and that the Deebot M82 gives a good picture - both in terms of content and appearance. The MAX mode and the eco mode with energy-saving function as a contrast round off the picture, which has obviously been given some thought. With the Deebot, ECOVACS has designed a good model that could only use a little more power. However, as with all five models in our test, this is complaining at a high level. The ECOVACS DM82 is a stable robot with good software and satisfactory suction results at a pleasant volume!
