NVIDIA sets new standards

GTX 1080 TI rendering

The GeForce GTX TitanXP was the previous flagship of the Californian parts manufacturer. But that will soon be history. With the GeForce 1080 GTX Ti the performance of the predecessor is overtaken and thus enables gaming with Ultra HD on a new level. In addition, the card should be around €820 cheaper at around €180. With this and two other models, NVIDIA occupies the im Performance test the first three places - not bad!

AMD falls by the wayside

The already mentioned graphics Cards GTX Titan XP and GTX 1080 Ti beat each other in the test Ars Technica extremly good. But that's not enough praise for NVIDIA. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 is also in the top three. Competitor AMD is currently far behind and continues to focus on expanding the Polaris series and its entry-level models RX 460, 470 and 480.

The chip manufacturer, which is also based in California, is not going to let that sit. Team Red fans are already eagerly awaiting the release of AMD Vega. The new series has already been announced and received a lot of advance praise. Experts have already leaked out that the Vega graphics card with 4.096 shaders should come onto the market - if these assumptions are correct, AMD seems to be competitive again! According to current leaks, the RX Vega should be about 34% faster than the GTX 1080 and would therefore be on par with the new König 1080TI.

Shaders are hardware or software modules that provide certain rendering effects in 3D computer graphics and thus increase sharpness and gaming fun.

VR-ready

But back to the new 1080 Ti. Official information is written by the GPU VR readiness too. Virtual Reality is increasing more and more and the gaming scene uses this willingness for a lot of new gaming experiences. For example, the new 10 series offers the so-called "NVIDIA Ansel" function. This allows you to take in-game screenshots that freeze the game in 360 degrees and then enjoy them in VR.

In general, the data from the graphics card almost takes your breath away. The impressive next-generation GDDR5X memory comes with a data transfer rate of 11 Gbps. Game content can be edited up to three times faster and gaming enters a new dimension.

The hard-working hardware is protected with die-cast aluminum and at the same time cooled with a radial fan including an advanced vapor chamber. The performance should be clear: Power! Let's wait for AMD's Vega series and stay curious whether NVIDIA has something against a market leader change up its sleeve again.
