Link and Bomberman accompany the Switch release

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Render

Released on March 03rd, 2017 the new Nintendo Switch on the German market. Techwatch.de already reported about possible concerns, which interested communities around the world gradually shared. Now Nintendo has released the launch line-up. The new console comes with five games on the market. However, those who rely on the famous Nintendo brothers Mario and Luigi will be disappointed. While "Super Mario Odyssey" should not be released until Christmas 2017, it will probably be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild the games flagship for the time being. The new "Super Bomberman R" should also provide fun.

Five games to start with

In addition to the two headliners Zelda and Bomberman, Nintendo also presents "1-2-Switch", "Skylander Imaginators" and "Just Dance 2017". Similar to the start of sales of the predecessor Nintendo Wii, 1-2-Switch should show the complete ability of the hybrid console and is therefore comparable to "Wii Sports". The features of the new Joy-Con controllers should be pushed to the limit. A small but fine difference to Wii Sports is, however, that 1-2-Switch is not included free of charge with the console, but will probably cost €49,99. As Nintendo's America President Reggie Fils-Aime Gamespot explained, this is a pure necessity.

Just Dance 2017 is the latest installment in the Ubisoft franchise that will make gamers dance across all consoles. How exactly the game will be implemented via the Joy-Con controller and the new possibilities it opens up is not yet clear. Skylander Imaginator is based on the well-known action figures, which are modeled after -pokémon-like- animals and have a lot of special abilities. A classic strategy combat game is transferred to the console, so it's about leveling and equipping your favorite characters.

Zelda also struggles with the hybrid ability

As in our first news on Nintendo Switch explained is the different resolution of Gamepad and home console a challenge for game developers. With "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" you can now go into more detail. In the dock, the switch transmits the game natively to the television in 900 p (1600 x 900 pixels), the mobile version is adapted to the maximum resolution of the portable gamepad and can be played in 720 p (1280 x 720 pixels). According to Nintendo, the downscaling should protect the battery and ensure three hours of gaming fun. The new Zelda will also be available for the "Wii U". As usual for the Wii U, 720 p is used natively. However, Nintendo promises a satisfactory 30 fps for both devices.

However, the open fantasy world, which you can usually explore as a link, eats up a lot of memory. The download version is around 13 GB, which poses a problem for standard Wii U users. Nintendo has published a list of external, compatible devices to expand the memory accordingly with an external hard drive. That shouldn't be a problem for the new Switch.

Mario, Luigi and Co. are a long time coming

In addition to Zelda and Bomberman, other classics will not appear until April. On April 28.04th "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is to be released, followed by "Super Mario Odyssey" in winter 2017. Other stars such as Sonic, Street Fighter or Rayman do not yet have a confirmed release date. The announcements of the new "EA Sports FIFA" and the Steam hit "Binding of Isaac" as games for the Nintendo Switch provide surprises.
