Halo Infinite - the saga continues

As 2001 Halo: Battle for the Future from Microsoft Studios was released, no one could have predicted that this would be the first installment of one of the most successful game series of all time. But Microsoft apparently recognized the potential and bought the developer Bungie shortly before the game was released in order to prevent the Macintosh version and at the same time create a big title for the newly planned one Xbox to acquire. The game, initially developed as a real-time strategy game, was completely turned upside down by Microsoft and in the end the first part of the now popular first-person shooter series was released for the Xbox and became 2 years later to the PC ported. With 81 million units sold, a bestseller was born.

Millions of years ago they created precursor the humanity. In order to find worthy successors for them, they create them at the same time: the blood fathers. After some time, however, they decide to destroy their creation again. But the blood fathers are too powerful and manage to rebel against their own annihilation and almost completely defeat their creators. Only a few of the progenitors survive and choose to preserve their genetic information to stand the test of time. However, this information changes over the course of thousands of years due to external influences.

The so-called spore the precursors are later discovered by humans and used in some animal experiments. They infest the organisms with which they come into contact and spread parasitically. In fact, these as Flood designated creatures no longer have much in common with the progenitors. There is only one goal left: to devour every living being in the universe and thus continue to develop.

Humanity is soon overrun by the Flood and has to retreat further and further into the universe. When she finally finds a way to successfully fight the Flood, not much remains of humanity's former glory. So a new wave of expansion is started, which in turn meets with resistance from the blood forefathers and thus leads to the destruction of most of the human positions.

Eventually, a war ensues between Forerunners and Flood. With the halos - planet-sized weapons of destruction - the Forerunners fight fiercely against the Flood. In the end, not much is left except an Ark of the Forefathers, which ensures that life is gradually restored in the universe.

Arrived in the year 2552 AD, the action of the first Halo offshoot begins. Mankind has developed a special super soldier program and the player takes on the role of the Master Chief. In addition to the Flood, there is another problem: an allied alliance that has strengthened at the edge of the universe and is now attacking humanity. In a rescue mission, the AI Cortana, containing secret knowledge of the Forerunners, transferred to the Master Chief's combat suit.

The alliance gradually falls into conflict and so some parts take the side of the people. The Master Chief travels to the ark with its officer. There they stop the alliance, which wants to ignite all the halos in the universe via the Ark's infrastructure and narrowly escape complete annihilation. Meanwhile, on Earth, the war between the Alliance and humanity is initially over. But when the leader of the Blood Forefathers is freed some time later, he quickly takes over the leadership of the alliance and the war begins again.

Now, as another ancient force (the Prometheans) awakens, conflict erupts on all fronts. To make matters worse, Cortana switches sides through contact with precursor technology and ultimately disappears.

Halo Infinite

The latest installment in the Halo series ties directly into the storyline of its predecessor, Halo 5, and revolves around a weapon that mimics Cortana. For the first time, Halo Infinite offers Free2Play multiplayer, which can be played for free in the Microsoft Store can be loaded. Halo in Film and TV

A film adaptation for Halo was already planned in 2005. Ultimately, Steven Spielberg was to direct it, which - unlike many other game adaptations - gives hope that this could actually be a good production. Anyway, the story has plenty of potential. Unfortunately, no project has been officially announced to date because there are problems with the rights: Microsoft is probably asking too much money.
