Even if the fifth part of Ubisoft's successful title only finds its way onto the market on February 27, 2018, Far Cry 5 is already hitting like a bomb. A bomb in the Christian population of America. After the release of the setting, some gamers are outraged. One feels offended by the story of a fundamentalist Christian cult in rural Montana. The game's image of the enemy is clearly staged: the player slips into the role of a young sheriff who is leading the uprising against the religious doomsday sect "Project at Eden's Gate".
"Something's coming our way. You can feel it, can't you? You sense that we are approaching the abyss.” These are the first words of the official announcement trailer. But while the crazy leader of the sect, Joseph Seed, who is typical of FarCry, is planting his prophecy of the end of the world in the heads of the residents, a completely different abyss opens up in reality: an abyss full of crying, offended Americans.

As a reaction to the publication of the first information about the game, a petition to discontinue Far Cry 5 actually opened. The agenda? Far Cry is too critical of American society. This cannot be tolerated, especially at the moment. The game should at least be changed, the story rewritten, the enemy shouldn't be the believing American man.
In our opinion, however, we do not have to worry about the discontinuation of Ubisoft's Far Cry 5. Although the petition has already collected over 2.000 signatures, it is to be hoped that common sense will prevail. A petition calling for censorship of critical content right now because She is aware of the criticism of a situation, lives up to the classic "putting sand in one's head" motif. Sand from blindness, ignorance, endless entitlement and the fight for the political correctness culture, mind you.
The political problems of America and some other parts of the world are now being transferred to the fictional world of games. But as in so many things. blindly securing freedom at any price leads to the certain loss of precisely this freedom. Compulsive, generalized political correctness leads to the death of freedom of expression. And it is precisely the conservatives who otherwise – rightly – pillory the constant grip on political correctness. But here you fall into exactly this pattern. Far and wide not a trace of healthy criticism. We believe games should create fictional worlds and those worlds shouldn't be accountable to the real world and shouldn't be subject to its rules - at least to some extent.
The wording of the petition's demands is actually so ridiculous that we couldn't rule out a troll action at first. However, since there are regular updates, we suspect that this is either pure seriousness or someone has a little too much time on their hands. You can take a look for yourself here. A small spark of hope remains. Maybe someone here is making fun of exactly what just pissed us off in a brilliant way. Whatever the case, we are certain that the world of gamers will continue to be unrestricted in their stories, their fantasies and fictional worlds.
In any case, Far Cry producer Dan Hay remains steadfast and advocates that games have matured enough to offer a platform for more serious topics. Finally, we have nothing more to add.

To end the article on a positive note, here is some information about the game itself. In addition to what we have just discussed at length, there are a few other changes.
Changes that are definitely worth mentioning. This includes, for example, another RPG element finding its way into the first person shooter. At the start of Far Cry 5 you will now be able to customize your character. There are no limits to the appearance of the sheriff.
I am also completely free in the choice of gender - at least as free as one can be from a biological point of view. That there isn't a petition yet? Well, ultimately your character can identify as whatever they want. You don't have to go through the fight alone either. You can hire people or play co-op, the whole game. The animals weren't lost when moving from the Wilderness Primals to Hope County either, here you can tame them again and sic your faithful companions on humans. Far Cry also retains the driving experience and even adds another element: air. In Far Cry 5 you can now get off the ground and take a look at the situation from above with an airplane.
