E3 2018 – the biggest games fair is coming to an end

E3 game clips from left to right: Cyberpoint, Ghost of Tsushima, and Assassin's Creed Odyssey

As every year, the shocked Electronic Entertainment Expo the games market in June. Since 1995 visit over 50.000 people the Los Angeles Convention Center to catch up on the latest developments in the video game market. Next to new game consoles and technology the focus is of course on the next blockbuster games. You can find out which games surprised or inspired us this year in our top 10.

5. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

After the steadily declining quality of previous parts, Ubisoft decided to give Assassin's Creed Origins more time developing the Egyptian spin-off, much to the delight of most fans. And the result proved all the critics right. Origins received high ratings and was praised for its immersive game world and compelling story. The early setting fitted the concept of the series perfectly. Accordingly, the setting of the next game was obvious: ancient Greece. And while critics still feel confirmed, Ubisoft announces the new Assassin's Creed Odyssey for October 05.10.2018th, XNUMX, less than a year after the last part. Players could choose between a male and a female hero at the start of their adventure for the first time. At first glance, this seems like the only change compared to Origins. Because Odyssey looks like a reskin of its predecessor. Different story, same technology, same gameplay. As Origins fans, we could live with that for a suitably compelling story. Do the critical Ubisoft observers see it the same way? We will find out in October at the latest whether Ubisoft's plan will work.

4. Fallout 76

Bethesda is busy and will release the next installment of the Fallout series on November 14th. In contrast to the previous parts for PC and consoles, Fallout 76 is an online role-playing game. The events in Fallout 76 are well ahead of the previous offshoots. Contrary to what some players expected, it's not about a large-scale PvP massacre. According to Pete Hines, Fallout 76 is more of a playground where you can play however you want. A sophisticated crafting system should allow players to produce items such as weapons, food or buildings themselves. Only a dozen players should be on the entire server so as not to ruin the post-apocalyptic scenario. A Fallout experience that can be played with friends sounds very promising in our opinion. More on that in November.

3.Ghost of Tsushima

The PS4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima leaves you speechless at first glance. Set in 13th-century Japan, players play as samurai against the marauding Mongols. At second glance, Ghost of Tsushima resembles Dark Souls or Sony's competitor: Nioh. According to the developers, however, the game shouldn't be as difficult as From Software's hate generator. The game is aimed at the mainstream, according to Nate Fox, the game's creative director. In addition, the developers try to develop a combat system that is as realistic as possible. Minute fights will therefore not exist. Sword fights in real life tend to end extremely quickly and devastatingly. We are excited and looking forward to this unbelievable graphic.

2.Cyberpunk 2077

Since the huge success of The Witcher 3, CD Projekt RED has been one of the most popular developers on the scene. There are many reasons for that. The top priority is probably the quality of their last game. The Witcher 3 scooped just about every Game of the Year award under the sun, was technically near perfect and offered massive scope. There were also free DLCs and two of the best expansions of all time. So it's not surprising that players around the world are demanding supplies. The Poles have been working on their new work, Cyberpunk 2012, since 2077. And although there will obviously be no thematic connections between the fantasy medieval epic called The Witcher and the cyberpunk role-playing game, most fans expect at least a similar concept. A deep RPG in a huge open world. At least in terms of perspective, there will be a change, since Cyberpunk 2077 is a first-person shooter. In any case, the trade press is enthusiastic and is already praising the detailed game world. Incidentally, the first trailer leaves no technical questions unanswered. Anyone who wants to play Cyberpunk on the PC will need the latest hardware. An exact date for the publication is not yet known, but it should be ready in 2019. We are excited and awaiting the next masterpiece from CD Projekt RED.

1. The Elder Scrolls VI

Completely surprisingly, Bethesda deviated from the successful path of porting Skyrim to every imaginable device and presents a teaser trailer for the sequel, The Elder Scrolls VI. There is currently little more information about this. Only the following information is available:

  1. The game is in development.
  2. It appears after the science fiction role-playing game Starfield, which was also announced.
  3. That would have made it into this list as well, but is just as opaque and uninformative.
  4. Starfield should only appear for the next generation of consoles.
  5. It hasn't even been announced yet.

Accordingly, the release of The Elder Scrolls VI is a long way off. Since there is no announcement for the new generation and the E3 usually has to be used for this, the year 2020 is the earliest possible. At the same time, Bethesda is unlikely to launch its new IP Starfield against The Elder Scrolls. Therefore, we expect a release around the year 2021.
