Three new devices from Google

New devices from Google

The Google Pixel and its big brother XL were among the most popular and best Smartphones of the last year. After the initial shock, despite the iPhone-esque high prices, the quality of the first smartphones specially produced by Google became apparent. Well there is first leaks and reports regarding the successors.

Waterproof and without a latch

Unsurprisingly, the new Pixel devices appear to be waterproof. Since both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the new iPhone will almost certainly be protected against moisture again, this feature is almost a must. In addition, there are rumors that Google will do without a jack connection. After Apple took the shit storm for omitting it, the resistance should be limited.

Much more interesting than that are the hints that there may be three new devices from Google this year. While the devices are kept under the code names "Walleye" and "Muskie" for the Pixel or Pixel XL successors, the "Taimen" project is said to have a significantly larger display. At 5,5″, which the Pixel XL brought with it last year, it would hardly be a Smartphone, but rather about a Tablet act. Google's last tablet was the Pixel C, released in 2015, and it did very well in relevant tests. In any case, we would be very interested!

Google asks community

A major shortcoming of the last Pixel generation was the lack of stereo speakers. It was precisely this feature that tempted many users to buy the predecessor, the Nexus 6P built by Huawei. In order not to repeat such mistakes, Google launched one without further ado Thread in own product forum to poll the community. By now over 1000 posts have been posted and Google should have enough inspiration to make the Pixel 2 a real success.

The new Pixel devices come with Android 8 codename "O". They are scheduled to appear later this year and are expected to be announced in the fall.
