Asus Swift PG27UQ at a glance

Asus ROG Swift PG27UQ

As expected, Asus presented its new top-of-the-line monitor at CES 2017: the Asus Swift PG27UQ will win over gamers with a large wallet beat faster – and advertises with a resolution of 4K at 144Hz.

Pure innovation

For 1999 euros you can, admittedly, buy a somewhat outdated small car without any problems. Or a piece of futuristic music from Asus. In recent years, the Taiwanese manufacturer has been offering all kinds of high-end monitors at great prices, such as the PG348Q, a 34-inch monitor ultrawide monitor with G-Sync and 100Hz refresh rate. This year, it's the Asus Swift PG27UQ that outshines the competition. 27 inch, 4K, 144Hz, GSync, the very current trend HDR and Quantum Dot technology. The whole thing with a viewing angle stable and color accurate IPS panel. No corner was saved here. And potential customers shouldn't be thrifty either, because the PG27UQ will be really expensive.

Quantum dots are the tiniest crystals made from semiconductor materials. They are used in various areas, for example in photovoltaic systems but also in displays. Their peculiarity lies in the fact that their color changes with their size. Clever use of the technology saves electricity and improves color fastness.

Early adopters only

An exact release for the monitor has not yet been determined, but we can expect new information towards the middle of the year. However, the offer suggests that few gamers will be eagerly awaiting the PG27UQ. Even absolute high-end systems are currently not able to display the most demanding titles in high details with a 4K resolution and 144 frames per second. A benchmark of Hardwareluxx.de shows: even the absolute top model from NVIDIA, the Titan XP, only manages 4 frames per second in the SLI configuration in 71,5K in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Mind you, one of these already costs graphics Cards 1300 euros. The new monitor is aimed at absolute hardware enthusiasts who want to have tomorrow's technology in their hands today.
