The purchase advice gives you a short and clear overview of the most important points before buying a gaming tablet. Here you will find all information regarding battery size, display, RAM, operating system and CPU and get to know the difference between hybrid and standard tablets. It is important that you know what you need!
Which chip manufacturers are there on the market?
Texas Instruments is one of the best-known CPU manufacturers. Among the Snapdragon models, every budget will find a reliable chipset. Mediatek, on the other hand, used to offer moderate performance with the budget solutions. The new processors are no longer weak in their performance due to this performance, but older tablet models are.
Therefore, especially with these gaming tablets, you should make sure that no MediaTek processor is installed. Samsung (Exynos) and HUAWEI (Kirin) have in their best models as well Smartphones built their own processors today. These in-house productions come with a very good performance.
If you are not sure, we recommend that you read testimonials from other users regarding your favorite game. For example, HUAWEI Kirin processors are known to have customization issues, despite having excellent hardware.

Which display should my gaming tablet have?
To get the most out of it, your gaming tablet should have a Full HD resolution (1.920 x 1.080). A great clue is the PPI (pixels per inch). With a value above 250, the individual pixels are hardly perceptible.
The choice of the best screen technology is unclear. Because here, for example, IPS panels are very true to color and have a stable viewing angle, while AMOLED panels appear strong and saturated. Black values are very good with this AMOLED technology compared to the rather grey-black values of the IPS panels.
This is also called “clouding”. Both of these variants bring good and bad qualities with them. What really matters here is personal preference.
How big should my gaming tablet's memory be?
If you choose a good device, your memory should be expandable using a MicroSD card. You should at least make sure you have 16GB of internal storage. If you play big games, then this is quickly no longer sufficient. So it's better to go for 32 GB or even 64 GB. Games such as GTA or Real Racing only work with more than one GB of storage space.
If you can expand the memory with a MicroSD card, then you have to clarify whether your device allows swapping to the card. This is not always possible with models from Samsung, for example.
What kind of battery should the gaming tablet have?
You will usually find mAh (milliamp hours) as an indication of the battery performance. This value is decisive for the energy that can be stored by the cells. The following applies here: the larger the value, the more battery power.
The user interface and the installed hardware (CPU, GPU and display) play an equally important role. If you exchange the battery life with others, you have to be careful to compare the values under full load. This is the only way to understand and achieve the values you receive. Because when gaming, the full battery power is usually required. Some gaming tablets can already be used for up to 5 hours under full load.
Is there anything to watch out for with the operating system?
The first important point is whether you bought an Android or an Apple model. Both of these providers have different app stores and some games are then only available from a specific provider. For example, the game Guns of Fire is only available on Android and Battle Titans is only developed for iOS. If you choose an older tablet, you still have to check the installed version of Android. If you want to play new games, there may otherwise be compatibility problems.
At least Android 5.0 should be installed, then you will not have any problems with any software. If something is not working properly, then you should check your gaming tablet for updates or google it. Although your update cycle may have expired, there are other ways to get your device up to date.
If possible, you should then root your tablet (but will void the warranty) and install CyanogenMod on it, for example. If you don't care about the expiration of the warranty, then you can find out more about rooting in the appropriate forums.
Standard or hybrid tablet - which variant is better?
The market already offers many “hybrid” tablets. These devices are so called because you can also remove the attached keyboard. They can be used very flexibly, but, like the Asus Transformer 100HA, for example, don't have enough power like a notebook. That's why they're more likely to be counted among them Netbooks. If you would like a tablet that you can also use for word processing, then these hybrid tablets are great. You can also use the keyboard and mouse to gamble on these devices. The standard tablets, on the other hand, simply offer better performance for the money, which is why we can recommend these models more.
