Backup One Plus

The Backforce One is an excellently equipped gaming chair from Interstuhl, which we have already tested and found to be very good. In 2020, that same chair received a successor, which goes by the name of Backforce One Plus and, compared to the original, brings some practical extensions and optimizations with it.

But is it really worth buying in view of the lavish price difference of around 150 euros? After all, the predecessor with a price of just under 500 euros was anything but a bargain. We took a closer look at the improvements of the Backforce One Plus and will tell you in our following review whether an upgrade is recommended.

These features were carried over from the predecessor

Of course, Interstuhl did not invent a completely new gaming chair with the Backforce One Plus. Instead, the successor model is based on the original and of course also brings its most popular features and benefits with it. We have put together an overview of what these are – alternatively, you can simply take a look at our Backforce One gaming chair test, in which we present the chair to you in more detail.

Outstanding comfort

Like its predecessor, the Backforce One Plus offers excellent seating comfort. It is also equipped with SyncSeat for optimal ergonomics - a feature that includes, among other things, a synchronous mechanism with a backrest that can be folded back.

Instead of the metal tube with stretched rubber bands that is typical of gaming chairs, the Backforce One Plus also uses a high-quality wood core - the Dual Core seat with its two foam components also ensures that sweating is effectively avoided.

High quality manufacturing

In contrast to other gaming chairs, the Backforce One Plus comes with a base made of solid aluminum, which not only ensures a perfect stand, but also looks outrageously good. The cover of the chair, which is a mixture of Alcantara and artificial leather, is also convincing. There is another plus point here for the extremely clean seams.

All in all, the gaming chair definitely lives up to the "made in germany" seal in terms of its processing quality.

Foldable armrests

The innovative armrests were already a big plus for the Backforce One gaming chair. These can not only be adjusted in height, but can also be folded back completely if desired. This makes it much easier to get out of the chair because you don't have to move it backwards - alternatively, you can also eat while eating Desk more arm space. Of course, this great feature should not be missing from the Backforce One Plus.

Just like its predecessor, the Backforce One Plus can of course be adjusted in height. It is also equipped with a rocking function that can be adjusted in several stages, which allows the player to rock backwards. If desired, you can also simply lock your desired position permanently when rocking.

Illuminated backrest

With the Backforce One Plus, Interstuhl is once again relying on an innovative solution Lighting in the backrest. This is a round lamp that can be easily charged via USB using a built-in rechargeable battery. The special highlight: For a small surcharge, the player can simply have the logo of his eSports team, his name or his initials installed - this makes the Backforce One Plus a guaranteed eye-catcher at every gaming party.

Customizable patches

The Backforce One Plus also features the cool patches at shoulder level, which are familiar from the predecessor. Here, too, it is possible to easily personalize the patches with your individual desired text - they are then easily attached or removed using Velcro.

These features are new to the Backforce One Plus

To anticipate it directly at this point: With the Backforce One Plus, Interstuhl has not just brought a quickly developed successor onto the market, but has really put some thought into its production.

The German company sat down with well-known giants of the e-sports world, but also with typical average players, to jointly work out improvements that would do the new model good. And so the Backforce One Plus offers several great optimizations that really make sense and make the chair an excellent successor - even for all those gamers who already own the predecessor.

Seat depth and seat tilt adjustment

The synchronous mechanism of the predecessor is still on board with the Backforce One Plus, but has been expanded with a new seat depth and seat angle adjustment. From now on it is also possible for the owner to align the seat a whole bit further forward.

Conversely, this creates a small gap in the rear area of ​​the seat, but this is not noticeable. You can also easily adjust the desired seat depth using another lever, which is located in the middle on the right side of the gaming chair.

5D armrests

We really liked that Interstuhl took the criticism of the predecessor's armrests seriously: Many gamers were annoyed that the said backrests can be adjusted in height, but not to the side or forwards or backwards. This is exactly what the Backforce One Plus can now do: If you wish, you can turn the armrests by about 20 degrees to the left or right, alternatively they can be pushed forwards or backwards or inwards or outwards without any problems.

The Backforce One Plus now finally has the 5G armrests that have long been standard in many other gaming chairs, which of course can still be folded back completely.

Optimizations in construction

The introduction of the new adjustable lumbar support automatically resulted in some changes in terms of the upholstery of the chair and the construction of its backrest. An additional free space had to be integrated here in which the lumbar support can find shelter - but there were no changes in the thickness of the backrest, which still ensures excellent seating comfort.

Removable armrest pads

Let's stay straight with the armrests: These have been additionally optimized on the Backforce One Plus and are now equipped with removable pads. The upholstery comes with the same soft fabric that the seat and backrest are made of and therefore also blends harmoniously into the overall picture in terms of appearance.

Due to the upholstery, the armrests are a little higher, which can definitely be seen as an advantage - otherwise you can simply adjust the depth of the armrests. In addition, you can now easily exchange the removable padding for replacement padding, provided that they should at some point have their best time behind them.

Individually adjustable lumbar support

Another disadvantage of the predecessor from the point of view of many gamers was that it did not have an adjustable lumbar support. Here, too, Interstuhl has improved the Backforce One Plus and given the chair one of these.

The support can be infinitely adjusted both in height and in depth and thus enables a perfect adaptation to the different back requirements of the buyer. Incidentally, the support can be adjusted with a rotary knob that is integrated on the underside of the seat.

Larger universal roles

The universal wheels of the Backforce One Plus have also received a small update. They have been increased in size to 65 mm and now allow the chair to move better, especially on carpets.

And finally ...

The Backforce One Plus is not just a hasty successor, but also offers its buyer a variety of innovative and useful improvements compared to the first model.

For example, we sorely missed an individually adjustable lumbar support in the Backforce One, which is now included in the new gaming chair. In addition, the armrests are now finally the popular 5D variant, which can not only be adjusted in height, but also backwards and forwards, inwards and outwards and to both sides - but you can still adjust them completely if you wish fold backwards.

A big plus point is certainly the armrest padding, which can now be removed and replaced with new padding if it is heavily worn - at a price of 29 euros, these are actually quite affordable.

The already excellent seating comfort of the predecessor has even been slightly improved on the Backforce One Plus. The customizable patches and the customizable backrest lighting are also innovative.
