Anyone looking around for a new smartphone will quickly find that the selection of devices is now so large that, especially as an inexperienced beginner, it is difficult to keep track. Many potential smartphone customers therefore ask themselves the legitimate question: Which smartphone is actually the best?
Admittedly, this question is not easy to answer, because every manufacturer naturally promises its customers the perfect smartphone with the best and most powerful equipment. In addition, not everyone can afford the best smartphone, because quite a few devices cost 1.000 euros and more - and thus almost a full monthly salary. Ranking lists listing the top 10 best smartphones should therefore be treated with caution.

If you are currently looking for an excellently equipped high-end smartphone and also value state-of-the-art technology, you should definitely take a closer look at the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. It was able to secure first place in numerous independent test reports and we too are absolutely delighted with the stylish premium device. Thanks to its 6,8-inch OLED screen with WQHD+ resolution (3.200 x 1.440 pixels), it is ideal for gamers and for watching ultra-high-resolution movies - the latter are particularly impressive thanks to HDR10+ support and a 100% DCI-P3 color space on your costs. In addition to its impressive high-end display, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G also offers an excellent digital camera: the main camera with a 108-megapixel sensor and a particularly bright f/1.8 aperture is joined by two 10-megapixel telephoto lenses with 3x and 10x zoom, which in combination result in outstanding snapshots in any environmental situation. On the other hand, if you prefer to record videos, you can do so in 4K quality with up to 60 fps or in 8K quality with up to 24 fps.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G does not really have any real weaknesses, but unfortunately Samsung has not included a built-in memory card slot in this model - greetings from the competitor Apple. The purchase price is also anything but cheap: the current Samsung flagship is currently not available for less than 1.000 euros.

Xiaomi mi 11 ultra
If you don't necessarily need a smartphone from the big manufacturers Samsung or Apple, you should take a closer look at the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. Although you wouldn't necessarily expect this, many independent test magazines and online portals, such as ComputerBILD, rated it as the currently best Android cell phone. Responsible for this is not only the impressively fast speed of the device, but also its excellent features and its rather stylish appearance. The 6,8-inch OLED display in 20:9 format has a super-sharp 3.200 x 1.440 pixel resolution, and it also scores with excellent black levels and an impressive 515 ppi and up to 120 Hz for smooth playback. The built-in 108-megapixel camera not only ensures flawless shots at close range, but also allows you to zoom in on subjects that are further away without loss of quality thanks to its 5x optical zoom - if you want, you can even zoom up to a factor of 120 using the digital zoom. Pretty Also cool is the mini-display on the back, through which you can also use the main camera to take selfies, since you can see yourself in them. If you don't take any selfies, you can use the small display to display the date and time or your favorite picture if you wish.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra also has hardly any real weaknesses, but unfortunately you cannot expand the integrated memory via a memory card here either – which is quite annoying at a price of around 1.200 euros. Incidentally, the smartphone is currently in such high demand that it is completely sold out almost everywhere.

Xiaomi Poco F3
Another highly recommended smartphone from Xiaomi is the Xiaomi Poco F3. This is primarily aimed at those smartphone fans who are not necessarily looking for a well-equipped high-end device, but still do not want to do without a certain level of convenience. What is quite impressive about this model, for example, is the fact that, despite its affordable purchase price of around 320 euros, it has a high-resolution 6,7-inch OLED display with 2.400 x 1.080 pixels, which is actually more likely to be found in higher price ranges - it even supports it 120 Hz for particularly smooth picture reproduction. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, 5G and NFC are also on board, as is a powerful 4.520 mAh battery, which easily lasts the whole day even under high loads. Of course, you have to make compromises for the price with the built-in digital camera, but with 48 megapixels in combination with a 5-megapixel telemacro lens and an 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens, it is still impressive. Videos can be recorded either in brilliant UHD quality with up to 30 fps or in Full HD quality with up to 60 fps.

Realm GT Neo 2
With the Realme GT Neo 2, the Chinese manufacturer Realme has launched an excellently equipped premium cell phone that can still convince with its comparatively reasonable purchase price. The device, which is impressive across the board in terms of optics, is equipped with a 6,6-inch OLED display that has a resolution of 2.400 x 1.080 pixels and also has a convincing pixel density of 397 ppi. The built-in digital camera is a 64-megapixel version, which also has a macro lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens at its side - so taking perfect snapshots in a wide variety of situations is not a problem. It's a shame, though that Realme has made cuts here of all places and the digital camera therefore lacks a zoom lens and an image stabilizer. On the other hand, the Realme GT Neo 2 is convincing when it comes to recording videos, because ultra-high-resolution 4K recordings with a very good 60 fps are possible here. Also on board are Wi-Fi 6, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, a fingerprint sensor and an alternative face recognition, and the integrated battery is fully charged in around 40 minutes thanks to the quick-charging power adapter supplied. It's a shame though: the Realme GT Neo 2 doesn't support inductive charging.

Samsung Galaxy S20FE
The Samsung Galaxy S21 is certainly an excellent smartphone. In view of its rather high price, however, it is too expensive - especially if your own wallet is not quite as extensive. If you are still looking for a good, state-of-the-art Samsung smartphone, you should definitely take a look at the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, which offers similarly good features with only a few gradations for a price of less than 500 euros. For example, it has a 6,5-inch AMOLED display, which is even slightly larger than the display of the original S20. This not only scores with a decent resolution of 2.400 x 1.080 pixels, but also ensures smooth playback of films and games without annoying stutters or dropouts thanks to 120 Hz. For photo fans, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has a powerful triple camera with a 12-megapixel sensor, which, in addition to the main camera, consists of a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a telephoto lens with 8 megapixels and up to 4x Zoo offers without quality loss. On the other hand, those who prefer to record high-resolution videos can do so with a resolution of 8K and 24 fps. Another plus point: Unlike many cutting-edge devices, the storage space of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE can be increased if necessary, because the device has a built-in memory card slot that can be used to store memory cards with a maximum of 1 TB can be used - so you certainly can't complain about not enough free memory.

In view of the almost endless selection of smartphones currently available, it is unfortunately not that easy to find the best device - especially since every buyer has their own individual wishes for a perfect smartphone. Nevertheless, from our point of view it is worth taking a closer look at the five devices presented above, since they should all be shortlisted due to their good equipment.
