While many tables only have one, often asymmetrically placed, cable bushing, the ACD2 boasts two of these practical aids. In this way, cables can be routed downwards almost perfectly and invisibly. Aerocool has obviously thought about this and preferred practicality to unnecessary design decisions. There is also an extraordinarily useful addition under the table that makes cable management easier. A metal shelf intended for the power strip is placed directly between the cable bushings. You can lead a plug strip from the house socket there and hide any power plug cables, for example from the monitors, directly under the desk. This shelf proves to be very practical in everyday use and makes the Aerocool ACD2 a great gaming desk, which is recommended due to its stability and good cable management options.

In terms of stability and durability, this gaming desk is in the league of professional office furniture and should be of particular interest to those who like to work standing up. It's rather disappointing that, at a price of almost 500 euros, neither cup holders nor headphone holders are included in the scope of delivery.

What should you look out for when buying a gaming table?

As it turns out, gaming desks now come in many different styles and sizes. But what exactly should you look for when buying a gaming table? Are there basic characteristics that every table must have? We give an overview to make the decision easier for him.

Before purchasing a gaming desk, it's important to think about how many monitors you want to put up. Many tables found online are not large enough to seat two 27 inch monitors plus speakers to accommodate. For two monitors, the table should be at least 140 cm wide, but if you only want to set up a normal monitor or a widescreen monitor, you can also look around for tables from 115 cm wide.

The material and processing quality of the tabletop can also be decisive. Tables under €100 are often made entirely of plastic and therefore offer little stability and durability. The total weight of the table can be an important factor for the quality of the materials and the workmanship. A 140 cm wide gaming table with a weight of 50 kg is logically much higher quality and more stable than a table that weighs 23 kg. The substructure and the legs or feet also contribute to the stability. You should make sure that the feet are made of steel and that you can fine-tune the feet of the table again. In this way, any unevenness in the floor can be easily and wonderfully compensated for with little effort.

The cable management of the desk is particularly important. So-called cable outlets, which are integrated into the desk top, are extremely practical. All the necessary cables from the monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, etc. can be fed through easily and cleanly here and connected to the PC without a real tangle of cables behind the table. Many gaming desks offer much smarter solutions when it comes to cable management. For example, if you want to hide your power strip directly under the table, you should look for a gaming table that has a storage area for cables and power strips below.

A gaming desk is not a gaming desk without the necessary gadgets. While a conventional desk offers little space for storing gaming accessories, gaming tables have a huge advantage. But which of these gadgets are really practical in everyday life and which ones can you safely do without? A drink holder can prove to be quite useful, especially during longer gaming sessions, because your favorite drink is well protected from knocks and ill-considered movements in a specially designed steel basket on the side of the table and can therefore not tip over. The die-hard gamer chooses to play with a headset instead of playing audio through speakers to make the experience as immersive as possible. But what to do with the bulky headphones, which are usually also connected to the PC by cable? Quite simply - gaming desks with an integrated headset hook offer a remedy here. So if the headset is currently in use, it hangs securely on the device on the desk and does not take up unnecessary space.

What features can you do without?

Many manufacturers try to lure customers with features that are actually not worth mentioning. You should therefore think carefully about what is important and what is not. An illuminated table, for example, can be nice to look at, but the basic properties such as workmanship and stability are neglected, no matter how sparkling and luminous the table can be. In order to push the price up by any means necessary, gaming desks often come with gadgets that are hardly worth mentioning. You should be particularly careful with things that are permanently installed on the table. It often happens that somewhere in the middle of the record there is a controller stand that cannot be moved freely. Those who can do without it give away valuable space for a second monitor or loudspeakers.

The design of a gaming desk is of course important, but here too one should not be misled by the promises of the manufacturers. Tables that look particularly exciting should be examined more closely and scrutinized in terms of stability and stability, because it is not uncommon for advertising text to advertise specially developed technologies, but in the end the table is nothing more than a shaky plastic plate. Whether coated or natural look - wood is still the material of choice, even for gaming desks.

Supposedly ergonomic desks with unprecedented shapes can usually also be safely ignored. Where an inwardly rounded desk top still fulfills its purpose of bringing the player particularly close to the action, other shapes, often advertised by the manufacturer as an absolute novelty, are irrelevant and never serve the purpose of sitting in front of the table more ergonomically.

What do other trade magazines say?

If you search the web for reviews of gaming desks, you quickly realize that the experts mostly agree on what is important for a good gaming desk. It is primarily emphasized that a secure and firm stand and high stability are the be-all and end-all, whereas the design and the gadgets play a rather subordinate role in purchase advice. If you intend to place your PC directly on the table next to the monitors, you should definitely make sure that the table can handle this load without collapsing.

In contrast to conventional office desks, gamers often only have wired peripherals on the table, which can often lead to a shambles of cables forming under the table. It is also pointed out here that when buying a gaming desk, you should pay particular attention to the types of

Cable management the table provides. Cable outlets, cable ducts and clips or special mounts for socket strips offer great added value when laying the cables.

The materials used are also highlighted. The combination of a stable wooden panel mounted on a steel frame usually offers the best value for money.

But other materials are also being examined more closely. A metal table, for example, can provide enormous stability according to reports on the Internet, but the purchase price is not exactly cheap. Not completely disregarded, but also not exactly praised to the skies are plastic desks, whose stability and resistance to breakage very often leaves a lot to be desired.

Storage space and shelf space is a big topic when you look at some of the tests in the . A dual-monitor setup with two 27-inch monitors can take up a large part of the available space and everything quickly seems a bit cramped and untidy. Those who want to accommodate speakers, console, game pad, headset and smartphone in addition to two monitors and a mouse and keyboard should definitely attach great importance to practical gadgets such as cup or headset holders.

All in all, the specialist magazines on the Internet agree and mostly agree with our assessment of gaming tables. So if you are looking for a suitable table, you should primarily think about the stability and size. Other properties like design, gadgets and shape should be subordinated to that.

Which table for which target group?

In our test, the Aerocool ACD2 emerged as the price-performance winner. With its 140 cm wide table top, which is completely covered with mouse pad material, the bad gaming desk from Aerocool knows how to convince. The steel frame that holds the table together can also score points with its high level of robustness. The cable management options complement the already very well-rounded overall package and make the Aerocool ACD2 a real all-rounder. For a little over 200 EUR you can get a very good gaming desk here.

The GXT 711 from Trust is recommended for bargain hunters. Here you get a stable table, which is not quite as spacious in terms of space, but is still big enough to accommodate a large monitor and all kinds of peripherals. The construction is easy Gadgets such as a headset hanger, useful additions and the cable outlet in the tabletop ensure a clean look when hiding the cables. At around €114,90 you can't go wrong if you're looking for a simple and stable gaming desk solution.

Experience shows that gamers with very high demands are not satisfied with the standard. If you own an extremely powerful gaming PC, you want it and all its accessories to be housed safely and in a visually appealing way. The Ultradesk Grand with its 160 cm wide table top offers the necessary space for this purpose and can even be adjusted in 3 heights. However, if you want to go one level further, you should check out the Thermaltake TT Gaming Level 20 GT Battlestation. The table, which can be adjusted to a standing position, also offers space for two monitors and boasts the best cable management in our test. For just under EUR 500, the passionate gaming lover gets a true masterpiece here, which is way ahead in terms of stability and longevity, but does without gadgets such as a headset or drink holder.
