Gaming monitors in detail

In the following we will go into more detail about the models presented. Here you can find out more about the properties of the monitors and we will also answer a few FAQ questions for each monitor and provide you with an informative video review.

Everything you should know about gaming monitors!

Do you want to buy a new gaming monitor? Are you perhaps still unsure which is the perfect model for your needs? Surely you will also have questions about the topic "Gaming Monitor" and we want to try to clarify them. In the large gaming monitor comparison, we have summarized everything that is worth knowing and important for you and now present you with the specifications of the individual models. In this way, it will be easy for you to find the right gaming screen for your computer.

What is the difference between a normal and a gaming monitor?

Do you also belong to the gamblers who still use the conventional business monitor to play? Then you will surely get annoyed every time the pictures "tear" and jerk. Here the solution can only be: buy a new gaming monitor, because it will have a dynamic frame rate.

With refresh rates of up to 180Hz, the gaming screen offers the best conditions for this. However, this fact alone does not create a better picture. Here another factor is important, namely the VSync. This directly couples the image output of your graphics card to the refresh rate of your display. Basically, you can assume the rule of thumb that the higher the quality of your system, the more your monitor must be able to do. A small example: your monitor has a refresh rate of 60Hz. However, your graphics card only delivers 55 frames/second. Now you will see stuttering on the monitor.

However, if your graphics card can handle more than 60 frames, a “crack” will appear on your screen, the so-called “screen tearing”. For a business monitor, IPS panels with stable viewing angles and strong colors are absolutely necessary - however, these parameters would not be very advantageous for your new gaming screen. In order to get the highest possible frame rates, you should also use the TN technology here.

A good gaming monitor should transmit your reaction time faster than a business monitor or a TV. Because of this, your new gaming screen should have a XNUMXms lag. However, this only applies if you play responsive games very often. If you don't play these that often, a screen lag of up to five milliseconds will suffice.

Benefits

  • low input lag
  • short reaction time
  • optimal image quality
  • different modes

Disadvantages

  • higher purchase price
  •  high-quality graphics card required

How many inches should my new gaming monitor be?

The size of the gaming screen depends on either the viewing distance or the resolution. If you prefer Full HD resolution, you should get one 24 inch screen choose. At a 24 to 27 inch monitor you then have the choice between QHD and Ultra HD. However, this will have a direct effect on computer performance, because you need a much more powerful PC for a 4K gaming experience. Full HD does not require nearly as much computing power.

You also have to consider the size of your desk when choosing the size of your new gaming monitor. Maybe you only have a small one Desk, it may then be that a larger screen (from 27 inches) has no space at all or you are simply sitting too close to the monitor and your eyes will tire more quickly. Basically, a gaming monitor with 24 inches can be recommended. This can also be found on most gamers' desks.

What resolution should my new gaming monitor have?

Thanks to the ever-growing product range in the gaming monitor segment, it can be quite difficult to keep track of everything. An example here is the screen resolution. In the meantime it has become very difficult to keep track of things. So that you know all the information and know what is important, we have researched the most important facts for you. Here is everything you need to know about screen resolution. The screen resolution is the number of picture elements (commonly called “pixels”) that are projected onto the screen.

These are given in the form of two numbers with a multiplication sign in the middle. The first number is the height of the screen and the second number is the width of the screen in pixels. If you then multiply these two numbers together, you get the sum of all possible pixels on your display. The screen resolution always depends on the dimensions of the monitor and there are now more than 20 different screen resolutions.

What is a curved gaming monitor and what are its benefits?

Curved Monitor and your eyes have one thing in common: they are both curved. The radius of curvature of your eye is about 1000R (the “R” here denotes the radius and the number denotes the radius in millimeters). The curved shape of the monitor is much more comfortable for your eyes and a curved monitor will offer you a whole new picture experience.

A Harvard study is very revealing: according to it, you see four times more blurry on a flat screen than on a curved monitor. You can get many different monitor curvature radii on the market. Here it is important to know which one seems most comfortable to you.

The radii of curvature can be specified as follows:

  • 1800R
  • 2300R
  • 3000R
  • 4000R

With a 2300R screen, the radius of curvature is 2300 millimeters, which means: this is also the recommended maximum viewing distance. This applies to all curvature radii of the curved monitors. Here you will find a list of the advantages and disadvantages of curved monitors.

Advantages:

  •  panoramic view
  • Easy on the eyes
  • Realistic
  • less head and arm movements
  • slight 3D effect even without Shine Hair and Beard Oil

Disadvantages:

  • higher purchase price

Which gaming monitor manufacturers are recommended?

If you want to buy the best gaming monitor, you should also know the best manufacturers of these. As an ambitious gamer, you will certainly already know most of the manufacturers. The models from Asus, Samsung, LG and HP are highly recommended.

Buy a gaming monitor? That's something to note!

When looking for your new gaming monitor, you can also make a few mistakes. So that this doesn't happen to you under any circumstances, we have summarized everything important for you here. A good gaming monitor can quickly cost over 1000 euros. However, there are also very good models in the lower price ranges. We are of the opinion that it does not have to be a high-end model for the "normal" gamer.

A gaming monitor should be between 24 and 27 inches in size. So you can still capture the entire gameplay and don't have to keep turning your head. The refresh rate is a minimum of 60 Hz, but the top models have a refresh rate of up to 200 Hz.
For gaming monitors, models with 144 Hz are now the standard. The response time describes the time it takes for the monitor to change the color of a pixel. This is an important aspect of a gaming screen. Here, the best models have values of one millisecond, but a value of six milliseconds can still be described as "good".

For particularly high frame rates, you should rely on TN technology. The conventional IPS panels have a significantly higher switching time. It is also important to make sure that your new gaming screen has enough connections.

The screen should have enough USB ports for the keyboard, mouse, PC or other peripheral devices. There should also be at least one HDMI and one Display Port connection. You should also make sure that all your components are compatible with each other.

Gaming monitor test: our conclusion

A good gaming monitor makes gaming an unforgettable experience. You should be able to get good monitors for little money, but you can also buy an expensive high-end device. But the question is: is this expense worth it? A very good alternative are here 49 inch curved monitors. Of course, these are still quite expensive to buy, but in our opinion they are the future of gaming monitors.
