Gaming mouse guide: Everything you should know about gaming mice!
A good mouse must be able to do one thing above all: it must be precise. If it also has good gap dimensions and offers good equipment, then you can speak of a good model. In our gaming mouse test, we want to present the current models to you and show you their strengths and weaknesses. Here you can see all the information conveniently at a glance, so that your purchase decision will be easier. We want to answer your questions and provide you with the best possible information about the current models.
What is the difference between a gaming mouse and a normal computer mouse?
The first difference between the two models will surely catch your eye right away. Gaming mice look very stylish and futuristic and for this reason alone they cannot be compared to normal mice. If we then look at the technology of both models next, the differences will certainly become even more apparent. Gaming mice are a bit faster than their "little sisters", the business mice.
With them it is possible to change the resolution (DPI) or the scanning speed (HZ) at the push of a button. A good gaming mouse has a resolution of 3000 to 6000 DPI and a sampling rate of around 100 to 1000 HZ. With these mice you are able to perform complete turns or other very precise, fast movements with the smallest movements in games.
The gaming mice also usually have additional buttons that a normal mouse does not have. The special feature of these additional buttons is that they are usually freely configurable, so you can program the buttons according to your ideas.
How much does a gaming mouse cost me?
You can buy gaming mice quite cheaply. They are already available from around 10 euros. But these mice can't convince, this is mostly a useless pile of plastic with which you certainly can't win games. So keep your hands off mice under 40 euros. You can expect a price range between 40 and 150 euros for a good gaming mouse. Then you have a very good model, which will surely give you many years of pleasure.
Which gaming mouse manufacturers do you recommend?
There are as many manufacturers of gaming mice as there are stars in the sky, you only need to look at the almost endless rows of mice in electronics stores. But not every manufacturer knows how to produce good gaming mice.
However, the long-standing mouse manufacturers can look back on a lot of experience and so it is not surprising that the most successful are also the best-known manufacturers. Logitech and Razer should be mentioned here, these two mouse producers have been around since the 1980s. It was the Razer company that brought the first dedicated gaming mouse onto the market.
But newcomers are also making a name for themselves among gaming mouse manufacturers. The Hamburger Roccat, which was founded in 2007, are very big here. The Germans are now among the most successful manufacturers of gaming hardware and this is not least due to the fact that the founder of Roccat is a passionate gamer himself.
He has made it his mission to produce the best hardware for gamers around the world. Other manufacturers of good gaming mice: Mad Catz, Lioncast or BenQ.
Buy gaming mouse? You should note that!
So if you want to buy a new gaming mouse, you should also pay attention to a few things. We have already discussed the price. You shouldn't choose the cheapest mouse. Look for a good gaming mouse in the price segment from around 40 euros. We have already mentioned the sampling rate.
A good gaming mouse should have a DPI of over 5000. Another question worth noting is the type of scanning. Either LED (optical) or laser mice are available here. Lovers of optical mice always argue that their favorites are more precisely scanned and easier to control. The signal processor of the laser mice, on the other hand, intervenes several times in the scanning process and thereby straightens out the movements.
However, this technique (also called angle snapping) is not integrated in all laser mice and can often be modified or switched off using suitable software. Of course, a good gaming mouse must also be comfortable to hold, i.e. ergonomic. It shouldn't be too easy and it shouldn't be too heavy either. In order to find the best model here, all you really have to do is take the mice in your own hands and feel which gaming mouse you really like and which one suits the shape of your hand.
But left-handers should also make sure when choosing a new gaming mouse that it is also designed for left-handers. A mouse designed for the right hand will not provide any real gaming fun in terms of ergonomics and appropriate button placement. However, many producers of gaming mice know this fact and already have very good gaming mice only for left-handers on the market.
A new trend are gaming mice that can be played with both the right and left hand (so-called "ambidextrous mice"). Each key can be played with both the right and the left hand.
Gaming mouse test: our conclusion
A good gaming mouse is simply essential for successful gaming. Depending on how you program the buttons of your new gaming mouse, you can give it a very individual character. Make sure that it fits well in your hand and that you can play with it comfortably.
The best thing to do is try it out yourself before you buy it so that you can experience the differences first-hand. If you also consider the sampling rate and the resolution, then nothing should stand in your way and you should be able to find your perfect gaming mouse.
