What's in the box
As with almost all other external hard drives, the scope of delivery for the LaCie MOBILE DRIVE is not immense. However, the French manufacturer has to be commended for not only including a modern USB C cable, but also an additional USB-C to USB-A cable - this way, the record can also be easily connected to older ones connect devices. Crazy but true: The design of the LaCie MOBILE DRIVE is the main reason why many buyers choose this model. Apple fans in particular are crazy about the plate with the color "space gray", which can actually only be bought exclusively in the Apple Stores. The reason: The hue harmonises perfectly with an iMac Pro and other devices from the Californian apple company - even if it wasn't really hit 100%, at least at second glance. Alternatively, the hard drive is available in the color "Moon Silver", which also looks very chic and fortunately is not only available from Apple.
On the other hand, opinions differ on the actual design of the MOBILE DRIVE: anyone who loves round corners is guaranteed not to get warm with this hard drive, because it is (deliberately) relatively clumsy. However, anyone who loves the look with the unusual edge refinement will also be delighted that the Housing is made of robust and almost seamless aluminium. Only the underside is made of plastic, but this is not immediately noticeable due to the identical color tone. All in all, the processing of the record is really excellent.
What is striking, however, is that the supplied connection cables are relatively rigid. Since the hard disk unfortunately does not have any anti-slip feet installed on its underside, it can happen that these, in cooperation with the stubborn cable via the Table (or the respective subsoil) - this could definitely have been done better.
Hardware
As is usual with LaCie, the hard drive installed in the chic case is a model from LaCie Seagate, which is already cheaper without the spacey look - so LaCie makes you pay extra for the eye candy. As for 2,5 inch hard drives usual, you shouldn't set record speeds with this model either Data transmission expect, but an average of 130 MB/s is easily possible. The plate is available in the memory sizes 1 TB, 2 TB, 4TB or 5 TB, but not in the "Space Gray" color in the 1 TB version.
The execution with 5TB storage space is a bit higher than the other variants. Unfortunately, this also affects the overall picture, because the slimmer models simply look much more stylish in our eyes.

Due to its elegant design, the LaCie MOBILE DRIVE is obviously recommended for stationary use in the four walls at home, but according to the manufacturer, it can also be used without any problems as a mobile drive on the go, with the support of which you can store your pictures, videos and other personal data is always at hand. If you use the disk in a quiet environment, you'll soon find out that you can't hear anything, because the working noise of the LaCie MOBILE DRIVE is pleasantly quiet and therefore doesn't disturb you while you're working.
Conclusion
The LaCie MOBILE DRIVE is an external 2,5 inch hard drive that is primarily aimed at lovers of unusual design. However, they must also be willing to spend a few euros more, because the French manufacturer charges an additional fee for the extremely chic look. Fortunately, the relatively high prices for the hard drive have fallen sharply in recent months, so that a gigabyte in the 2 TB version is now around 4,1 cents and in the 4 TB version is already around 2,8 cents gives. Apart from that, you can see (or hear) the excellent workmanship of the disk, as well as the good write and read speeds and the pleasantly quiet working noise, so there is actually no good reason against purchasing the LaCie MOBILE DRIVE .
