The workmanship of the hard drive is very good at first glance. The Housing is a mixture of glossy/matt aluminum and plastic elements on the head sides. The hard drive feels good in the hand and is very well made at all corners. Overall, the chiliGREEN ILO-M conveys a very valuable feeling, which is not least due to the slightly higher weight, which can definitely be seen as positive.
If the hard disk works, this is indicated by a nevertheless green, brightly lit LED signaled. The only small point of criticism is the USB port, which only wanted to connect to the USB port of the data cable after firm pressure.
Hardware
As already mentioned at the beginning, our test device had one Hitachi Travelstar HTS541010A9E680 with 5400 RPM and 8MB cache installed. With a write speed of 107,15 MB/s and a read speed of 106,75 MB/s, the hard drive is in the upper midfield. Due to the comparatively low prices, however, the transfer rate is fully justified and therefore also satisfactory.
Another positive thing to mention is that the hard drive has a kind automatic pause mode. If there is no access for a certain period of time, the hard disk switches off automatically. If you access it again, it will be reactivated immediately. In our test, this reactivation went very quickly and without any noticeable delays. A welcome feature, especially for users who pay a lot of attention to their power consumption!
The USB cable falls with a Length of about 70 centimeters quite long, which we also noticed very positively. So the hard drive does not have to be placed in close proximity to the USB port, and may also be located on the Desk Place.
