The ADATA DashDrive HV620 comes in a very small box. Manufacturer ADATA advertises on the packaging with SuperSpeed USB 3.0, how himself hard drive under test hit, you can find out below. processing / design

The first thing you notice when you pick it up is that the hard drive is very small. In general, 2,5 inch hard drives are of course not particularly large, but the DashDrive HV620 is a lot smaller than various competitors. This means that the hard drive also fits comfortably in your trouser pocket, which is a clear plus point. While matte plastic is used on the sides of the hard drive, the top of the hard drive is glossy. However, this has the slight disadvantage that fingerprints are very easily recognizable and the hard drive therefore has to be wiped off frequently with frequent use. Of course, aluminum is significantly heavier than plastic, but it also appears to be of significantly higher quality.

As soon as the hard drive is connected using a USB cable, the blue LED to glow on top of the disk. The Lighting slightly dimmed by the LED, so that the light is in no way disturbing and the hard drive can also be connected very well as a hard drive to televisions or other end devices.

Hardware

As already mentioned above, one was installed in our test device Toshiba MQ01ABB200. However, this only rotates RPM 5400, which is also easily noticeable in the access time. Here the DashDrive HV620 still has some need for optimization by installing a hard drive RPM 7200. A faster transfer rate would also be possible with a larger cache (test device with 8 MB cache).

In general, the cable for 2,5 inch hard drives is of course always a bit smaller, but in our opinion approx. 20 centimeters is a bit short. if the distance to the next USB port is greater, you should use a USB extension cable.

Write speed of 106,31 MB/s and an Read speed of 113,37 MB/s the DashDrive HV620 is even higher than the values of 90 MB read/write specified by the manufacturer.

Conclusion

The optics and the size of the ADATA DashDrive HV620 convince along the entire length. The trouser pocket fit is ideal for conveniently transporting the hard drive on the go. The transfer rates of the hard disk are also convincing; here the hard disk is even clearly above the manufacturer's specifications. So who a small and fast hard drive is looking for, he will definitely be happy with the DashDrive HV620. So one from us clear buy recommendation!
